Responsible for the content pursuant to § 18 (2) MStV: Juliane Ahn, address as above.
This website is a personal, non-commercial portfolio documenting design and research work. It does not sell goods or services and does not carry advertising.
Liability for content
As a service provider, I am responsible for my own content on these pages in accordance with § 7 (1) DDG and general law. Pursuant to §§ 8 to 10 DDG, however, I am not obliged to monitor transmitted or stored third-party information, nor to investigate circumstances that indicate unlawful activity.
Obligations to remove or block the use of information under general law remain unaffected. Liability in this respect is only possible from the point in time at which a concrete infringement becomes known. Should I become aware of any such infringement, I will remove the content in question without delay.
The contents of this site are provided for information purposes. I take care to keep them accurate and current, but I cannot guarantee that all information is free of errors or complete — in particular where work in progress, ongoing research or historical project documentation is concerned.
Liability for links
This website contains links to external websites operated by third parties. I have no influence whatsoever on their content and can therefore accept no liability for it. The respective provider or operator of a linked page is always responsible for its content.
The linked pages were checked for possible legal violations at the time of linking, and no unlawful content was apparent. Permanent monitoring of the content of linked pages is not reasonable without concrete evidence of an infringement. Should I become aware of any legal violation, I will remove the link in question without delay.
Copyright
The content and works created by me on these pages are subject to German copyright law. Reproduction, adaptation, distribution and any form of exploitation beyond the limits of copyright law require my prior written consent. Downloads and copies of this site are permitted for private, non-commercial use only.
Quotation for scholarly and journalistic purposes is of course permitted within the limits of § 51 UrhG, provided the source is properly attributed.
Some works documented here were created collaboratively, in academic contexts or with third-party material. Where content was not created by me, the copyright of third parties is respected and such content is marked accordingly. Should you nevertheless notice an infringement, please let me know and I will remove the material without delay.
Privacy
This privacy policy explains what happens to personal data when you visit this website. It follows Articles 13 and 14 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The short version: this site does not track you. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics, no advertising and no social media plug-ins. It loads no fonts, scripts or images from third-party servers. What remains is described honestly below.
1. Controller
The controller responsible for data processing on this website is:
Juliane Ahn
Am Kisselberg
Isaac-Fulda-Allee 2c
55122 Mainz
Germany
Phone: +49 6131 39-33032
E-mail: contact@juliahn.de
The controller is the person who decides on the purposes and means of processing personal data. I have not appointed a data protection officer, as the statutory thresholds for doing so are not met.
2. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Straße 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. IONOS processes data on my behalf as a processor under a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.
When you access this site, the hosting provider’s web server automatically records information that your browser transmits. This is technically necessary to deliver the pages to you. It typically comprises:
- your IP address
- the date and time of the request
- the address of the page or file requested
- the referring page, where transmitted
- the browser type and version, and the operating system
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in operating this website securely and without disruption, and in being able to investigate technical faults and attacks.
These log files are stored by the hosting provider and are deleted or anonymised automatically after a short period. I do not merge them with other data sources, I do not use them to identify individual visitors, and I do not create usage profiles.
3. Storage on your device
This site sets no cookies.
It does, however, store two small technical values in your browser’s local storage in order to remember how you have set up the view:
jw-mini-breite— the width you have chosen for the side paneljw-hint-gesehen— whether the operating hint has already been shown to you in this browser session
These values contain no personal data, are never transmitted to a server, and remain on your device. They serve solely to provide the display you have requested and are therefore exempt from the consent requirement under § 25 (2) no. 2 TDDDG. You can delete them at any time via your browser settings.
4. Contacting me by e-mail
There is no contact form on this website. If you write to me at the e-mail address given above, your message including your e-mail address and any personal data it contains will be stored so that I can deal with your enquiry.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, my legitimate interest in answering enquiries addressed to me — and, where your message concerns the initiation or performance of a contract, Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
I retain such correspondence for as long as is necessary to deal with the matter, and thereafter only where statutory retention obligations apply. You may object to the storage of your enquiry at any time.
E-mail for this domain is handled by IONOS SE. Please note that unencrypted e-mail cannot be secured against being read in transit; for confidential matters, please use an encrypted channel.
5. Videos and other embedded content
Videos shown on this site are, as a rule, hosted on my own server. No third party is involved when you play them.
Where a video comes from an external platform (YouTube or Vimeo), it is not
loaded when the page opens. You first see a still preview image served from my
own server. Only when you actively click that preview is a connection to the
platform established, at which point the platform may receive your IP address and
technical data about your device. YouTube videos are embedded via
youtube-nocookie.com, Vimeo videos with the “do not track” parameter set.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. Your click constitutes your consent to that connection. Without the click, no data reaches the platform.
The platforms operating these services are Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) and Vimeo.com, Inc. (330 West 34th Street, New York, NY 10001, USA). Data may be transferred to the USA. Their own privacy notices apply to the processing that takes place there.
6. External links
This site links to external websites. Once you follow such a link, this privacy policy no longer applies — the privacy practices of the site you arrive at are outside my control and its operator becomes responsible. Please consult the privacy notice of the site in question.
7. Encryption
This site is delivered over TLS-encrypted connections (recognisable by https://
and the padlock symbol in your browser). This protects the content transmitted
between your device and the server from being read by third parties.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights in respect of your personal data. Exercising them is free of charge; a brief e-mail to the address above is sufficient.
- Access (Art. 15) — to be told whether and which data concerning you are processed, and to receive a copy
- Rectification (Art. 16) — to have inaccurate data corrected without delay
- Erasure (Art. 17) — to have your data deleted, unless a legal obligation requires their retention
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18) — to have processing limited instead of data being erased
- Data portability (Art. 20) — to receive data you have provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format
- Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7 (3)) — to withdraw consent you have given at any time, with effect for the future
9. Right to object
You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data concerning you which is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — on this website, that is the processing of server log files described in section 2. If you object, I will no longer process the data concerned unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds which override your interests, rights and freedoms.
10. Right to lodge a complaint
If you believe that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement.
The authority competent for me is:
Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen
Kavalleriestraße 2–4
40213 Düsseldorf
Germany
ldi.nrw.de
11. No automated decision-making
No automated decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR takes place on this website.
12. Changes to this policy
I will amend this privacy policy where the website changes or where the legal position requires it, so that it always reflects what actually happens. The version published here at the time of your visit applies.
